Clevedon pupils are part of a polar exploration programme to help their passion for learning in four key subjects.

Mary Elton Primary School is taking part in the National STEM Learning Centre project, funded by the British Antarctic Survey, which encourages children to take an interest in science, technology, engineering and maths subjects using the context of polar exploration.

Children will take part in projects including building boats workshops and be visited by organisations including EDF Energy.

Joanne Richardson, the school’s assigned polar ambassador, said: “All in all, we hope to encourage and engage the children, provide freely available resources for the teachers and leave a legacy which can be used year after year.”

Headteacher Dean Hudd added: “Our pupils are incredibly excited about this project and we are constantly promoting learning in all of the STEM subjects.”
