Pupils at a Backwell school celebrated its founder with a ball and afternoon tea.

The founder’s day event marked 82 years since independent Fairfield School, in Fairfield Way, was first opened.

Year six pupils led a service paying tribute to the school’s founder Barbara Lambert. Their service included musical performances, hymns and Bible readings.

Pupils, past and present, staff and parents then enjoyed an afternoon tea and ball.

Headteacher Lesley Barton said: “A particularly special moment was when the oldest child and youngest child in the school blew out the candles on the lovely birthday cake one of our parents baked for us.

“We’re all very proud to be celebrating such an impressive milestone here at Fairfield and look forward to many, many more years of teaching, shaping and supporting our lovely pupils.”
