Children are being challenged to write a poem to give their mums a treat on Mother’s Day.

Crown Glass Shopping Centre, in Nailsea, has invited children from 20 nearby schools to write a poem to show their mums how much they mean to them.

Entries must be in by February 16 and the best poems will be displayed in the centre.

The winners will receive a £25 gift voucher for themselves and a £25 voucher for their mother. They will also be invited to read their poem to their mum in a Facebook live read.

Centre manager, Martin Nelmes, said: “We will also upload all the poems onto our Facebook page so that everyone can see how talented the children are.

“This very public display of affection can be viewed in a virtual poetry book from February 21 and the poem with the most ‘likes’ by March 8 will win a £25 gift voucher both for themselves and their mum.”
