A man using his jetski off the coast of Burnham had to be rescued by the RNLI when the vehicle broke down at about 6.30pm.

The man was just north of Stert Island when a stone is thought to have got into the engine.

His friend, who he had been cruising with at the time, travelled back to shore to raise the alarm.

Burnham RNLI’s rescue boat then towed the man back to shore.

Jetskier Darren Cox said: “The RNLI were brilliant, I knew I could depend on them.”

Lifeboat press officer Mike Lang said: “These things happen to even the best prepared craft, and sensibly, Darren was in company with another enthusiast.”
