A decision will be made on Wednesday on ‘terrible’ plans for a medical centre between Congresbury and Yatton.

Mendip Vale Medical Practice’s plans for Smallway, which would replace the villages’ smaller provisions, will go before North Somerset Council’s planning and regulatory committee.

The authority’s officers have recommended planning permission is granted, but villagers have called for the application to be refused.

Yatton Parish Council slammed the plans at its meeting on September 3, fearing the erosion of the buffer between the villages.

Cllr Christopher Jackson said: “I think it’s an absolutely terrible application.

“This proposal is to put a medical centre in the middle of nowhere, eroding the barrier between Congresbury and Yatton.”
