Quilters raise hundreds for good cause

Expert quilters showcased months of hard work at the weekend, raising hundreds of pounds for a worthy cause.

Congresbury Quilters hosted an exhibition on Saturday at the Old School Rooms, showing off their colourful creations.

The event, which is held every two years, was in aid of Wraxall-based Children’s Hospice South West, and club collected £300 for the charity.

Founder Pat Baker said: “It was amazing. Our members put in lots of energy, enthusiasm, hard work and served some lovely cakes too.”

The group, which was formed three years ago, has a dozen members, but Ms Baker hopes the success of the exhibition prompts more people to join the group and hone their quilting skills.

She added: “New members are always welcome to join the group.

“They can pop in any Tuesday afternoon from 1.30-4pm at the Old School Rooms, in Station Road.”
