Villagers gearing up for the arrival of the world’s bests cyclists have arranged a day of activities to celebrate.

Riders taking on the Tour of Britain race will speed through Congresbury on September 4, and a pre-tour party will be held at the Millennium Green, off Bristol Road, on September 2 from 2.30-4.30pm.

Games and competitions for children, including a bike decoration challenge, will be held, and villagers will have the chance to showcase their speed on two wheels in a sprint challenge.

Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas and Team Sky teammate Chris Froome will be among the elite riders tackling the 128-km stage, set to be cheered on by thousands of fans at North Somerset’s roadsides.

The race will also take in the sights and sounds of Yatton, Kenn, Tickenham and Wraxall.
