An application to run a catering service from a shipping container in a Clevedon industrial estate has been handed in.

A mobile catering van already operates at the site, a lay-by at the junction of Strode Road and Southern Way, every day.

But applicant Mr Mutlu is now asking for full planning permission to place a shipping container on the land.

The application’s design and access statement, written by agent Cadplan Architecture, says: “Converted former shipping containers are a common sight these days and offer a very acceptable re-use option.

“Many are given a new identity. The cabin in question would be finished with white paint with the owner’s company logo applied over in red.

“In our view it would be a great improvement over the existing arrangements.”

The consultation period for this application expires on Tuesday.
