A Clevedon beauty salon has won an award at the regional final of this year’s National Apprenticeship Awards.

Beauty Oasis Spa has four salons in the South West, including one in Hill Road which opened in 2015.

The salon teaches level two and three beauty therapy apprenticeships, and its work to support apprentices has earned it the prestigious small business award.

Beauty Oasis owner Sarah Hallaran said: “We are so pleased to have been recognised by winning this award.

“Apprenticeships are an integral part of our business and the reason we are so successful in our industry.

“The whole structure from the management and training team down are fully involved with our apprenticeship programme and all staff recruited from 2008 have been through that scheme.

“Apprenticeships are embedded in our business and we all work really hard to promote, encourage and mentor our young people of today as they become cherished long-term employees, managers, trainers and assessors themselves in the positive environment.

“This award is a huge thank you and recognition of all the hard work carried out day to day by our wonderful Beauty Oasis team, and we are all thrilled.”

Sue Husband, director of the National Apprenticeship Service, added: “The National Apprenticeship Awards allow talented apprentices and committed employers from across our regions to receive well-deserved recognition for their apprenticeship achievements.

“Winners recognised at these awards show the range of sectors and variety of job roles apprenticeships are available in, and how they can deliver the skills employers need.

“I congratulate all winners on their success so far and the very best of luck in the next stage of the competition.”

The National Apprenticeship Awards, which are now in their 14th year, are run by the National Apprenticeship Service and reward excellence for businesses which grow their own talent with apprentices and apprentices who have contributed significantly to their workplaces.

The regional award-winners will compete at a national ceremony in January.

Beauty Oasis was also highly commended nationally at the 2015 awards.
