A charity has launched a new service in North Somerset which promises to fill a gap in mental health provision.

Second Step, in Clevedon’s Old Street, opened for new referrals on Monday.

It will offer a tailored programme of workshops, courses and activities including wellbeing cafés.

The charity celebrated world mental health day on October 10 by hosting a dawn dip in Marine Lake, sunset guided mindfulness and a wellbeing lantern walk on the pier.

Service manager Hannah Young said: “The wellbeing service is open to people with mental health problems who are looking for more support than their GP can provide.

“Our clients have helped us shape the programme of courses, workshops and activities and we’re optimistic we can help people discover ways to live well.”
