Clevedon pupils celebrated culture with a colourful creative carnival.

Students from Mary Elton Primary School were inspired by the annual carnival in Nice, where one of their link schools is situated.

The theme of this year’s carnival was space.

Aliens, astronauts, star-trekkers and even some rock ‘n’ roll dancers paraded around the school field, in Holland Road.

The school was grateful to Asda for the loan of several trolleys which were used as the base for each of the carnival floats.

Following the parade, the whole school sang French songs, enjoyed carnival doughnuts and played traditional French playground games.

Headteacher Dean Hudd said: “Our pupils loved our carnival and we thank Asda for its support.

“The whole event was organised and led by our wonderful modern foreign languages teacher Sarah Miller.”
