A Clevedon man has reached the regional final of a glasses-wearing competition.

Samuel Chapman, aged 28, entered the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer Of The Year competition after seeing it advertised on Facebook, and is now just one step away from reaching the national final.

He said: “You don’t think you’re ever going to win when you enter a competition so this was a real surprise.

“It’s great though and I’m really pleased.

“I got married two months ago and we’re off on our honeymoon in a couple of weeks so it’s been a period of lots of nice things happening.”

Samuel’s success has seen him presented with a certificate, bottle of wine and £150 eyewear voucher.

If Samuel reaches the final he could be in line for a £10,000 cash prize.

For each entry into the competition £1 is donated to children’s charity Kidscape, with £400,000 raised so far.
