A women’s rugby team has bought new kit thanks to hundreds of pounds which were donated by Clevedon Lions Club.

Clevedon Rugby Football Club’s ladies team was selected as one of the Lions’ Dream Scheme winners earlier this year.

The club received £350 and is now the proud owner of new kit complete with the Lions’ logo.

A record amount of Dream Scheme cash was given out this year to groups which applied for funding to help community-beneficial projects.

This year’s initiative gave out almost £6,000, collected from the Lions’ Christmas float, to 13 groups.

Money was also given to the likes of The Barn, Clevedon United Junior Football Club, Christchurch youth club and primary schools.

Dream Scheme has given more than £15,000 to voluntary sector organisations over the past three years.
