A group of Clevedon footballers took to the beach for an afternoon of litter-picking last week.

The Swiss Valley Rangers Football Club girls team and a couple of public volunteers took to Clevedon’s beach and collected waste.

The event coincided with the Great British Beach Clean Week and was organised by the Marine Conservation Society.

Event organiser Noren Mckinen said: “I would like to thank all the young and adult volunteers who turned up on September 15 to join the plea of keeping our ocean clean from litter.

“Their hard work with rubbish collection along the coastal path and Ladye Bay Beach proved there is always a need for volunteering groups to keep our coast clean.

“The children were very enthusiastic about keeping their environment and the ocean free of litter.”

The volunteers were able to collect almost eight full black bin bags of rubbish.
