A Clevedon historian will tell stories of the town’s buildings, locations and characters in her latest book.

Jane Lilly has been researching Clevedon’s history since 1974 and published her first book, called Clevedon In Old Photographs, in 1990.

Her latest, Clevedon Cuttings: History, Houses And A Couple Of Characters, is Jane’s 10th book and she described it as a collection of essays based on significant buildings, locations and characters.

Its essays explore the town’s railway accident in 1881, the history of bathing in the sea and some well-known businesses.

It features photographs and specially commissioned pen and ink drawings and has been published by Clevedon Community Publishing Press, run by Clevedon Community Bookshop.

Clevedon Cuttings will be launched at the book shop, in Copse Road, on Saturday at 2pm where Jane will give a talk and sign copies.
