A car caught fire in a petrol station forecourt in Clevedon this afternoon (Monday).

Avon Fire and Rescue Service was called to the petrol station, in Tickenham Road, at just after 4pm.

Two crews from Clevedon Fire Station attended, and used a high-pressure hose reel to put the blaze out.

The fire has been extinguished, and there is no damage to the fuel pumps.

However, a spokesman from Avon Fire said the fire had affected the petrol station canopy.

Crews are still on the scene, and Tickenham Road has been closed while they carried out the work. The road is expected to re-open soon, however traffic is building up in that area.

It is thought the cause of the fire was accidental.
