A rotary club is appealing for businesses to house its collection pots to raise money for local initiatives.

The Clevedon Yeo Rotary Club has been hard at work placing collection boxes around the town in a bid to raise the much-needed cash.

They have so far been placed in the town’s community centre, Garden Park garden centre in Tickenham, Clevedon Tyres and three other locations.

Club president Tony Carrington said: “We are grateful to those six for starting the ball rolling. There are no overheads and every single penny donated stays in the town.

“These are local businesses working in conjunction with us to help our community. Please support them and our charitable work.”

The club has donated £5,000 to clubs, organisations and individuals around the town over the past 12 months.

Meanwhile Alan Humphreys recently received the Paul Harris Award for his dedication to the club over the past 20 years.
