A Wraxall pub has reopened after an extensive £300,000 refurbishment.

The Battleaxes, in Bristol Road, was closed for five weeks while work was done to both the interior and exterior.

Flatcappers, the West Country gastropub group which owns the Battleaxes, has also revamped the menu.

Tori Hill, operations manager for Flatcappers, said: “We have made significant changes to the interior, using Victorian era upholstery, which is when the Battleaxes was built.

“The majority of the artwork comes from local artists, and with our new menu, we have tried to use as much local produce as possible, so there’s a real community feel to the pub.

“We’ve had great feedback from customers so far, which is extremely pleasing for us.”

More redevelopment is scheduled for the pub in spring 2018, when the rear carpark will be transformed into a beer garden, complete with a children’s play area.
