Ben Payne is a rock star in the making.

A budding Congresbury rock star made a little girl’s dream come true after a summer of fundraising gigs.

Eight-year-old Ben Payne has been showcasing his skills on the strings over the school holidays, raising money for children’s charity Make A Wish Foundation in the process.

The St Andrew’s Primary School pupil boasts a music taste beyond his years, and has mastered songs by the likes of Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Black Sabbath and Oasis on his Les Paul guitar.

The burgeoning guitar star played Platform One Festival at Strawberry Line Café, in Yatton, before opening the show at Busk In The Sun festival in Weston on the August bank holiday weekend.

He also started online busking live on Facebook, with friends and family tuning in to see him display his talents.

And his efforts earned a whopping £605 for the Make A Wish Foundation.

The foundation grants wishes to children with life-threatening conditions, meaning they can meet their heroes.

And after his last gig Make A Wish told Ben the money he raised helped a poorly seven-year-old girl meet her idol.

Tiegan, who lives with spinal muscular atrophy type two, was given the experience of a lifetime to meet YouTube personality Dan The Diamond Minecart (TDM).

Dan TDM has a legion of 16million subscribers for his videos on the gaming phenomenon Minecraft.

She said: “My wish was to see Dan TDM because I watch his channel and I really like him.

“I want to do all the things he does and I think he’s quite funny.

“It was really cool because I got to ask him all my questions and he even signed my T-shirt.”

Ben’s dad, Mark said Ben’s fundraising effort ‘started as a bit of fun to raise a few pounds for the amazing Make A Wish charity’.

He said: “Who would have thought Ben would play at two festivals and raise more than £600?

“A huge thank you to everyone who supported him along the way, every penny, every round of applause and every door opened for him made it a summer he won’t forget.”
