The Backwell Village Show took place at the WI and parish hall in Station Road.

The classes were open to adults and children, and there was also a family category.

The cookery class proved to be a big success, and judge Jane Knight said the standard was extremely high.

Nicola Everitt, who is on the show’s committee, said: “My parents have chaired the show committee for 39 years but are now grateful to be able to hand over much of the organisation to other committee members who have been learning the ropes over the past few years.

“Special mention should go to Lorna O’Sullivan the show secretary and Anne Morley who ran the raffle and announcements. As if they weren’t busy enough, both of them won cups themselves.”
