An art group raised a record amount at its most recent exhibition, and the money will be used to make people’s hospital stays more pleasant.

St Andrew’s Art Group, which is based in Backwell, raised £1,650 at its July exhibition, and members have now presented the money to the League of Friends of North Somerset Community Hospital.

The 20 members presented a cheque for £2,112, as they collected additional funds at fundraising events earlier in the year.

Jill Hobday, from the group, said: “With a membership of only 20, the art group is delighted with this achievement.

“Thanks are due to the many people involved in mounting the exhibition and everyone who supports the group in its charity fundraising each year.”

The League of Friends helps to make people’s hospital visits as pleasant as possible, by providing the extras the NHS cannot afford.
