POLICE across the Avon and Somerset patch are refusing to let up following their winter crackdown on drink and drug driving.

Despite the festive season coming to an end, officers made 62 arrests for the offences in just the first week of 2024.

A spokesperson for the Avon and Somerset Police roads policing unit said: "Nothing slowing down here."

They added: "Our winter operation Operation Tonic may have now come to an end, but our work to target those who drive under the influence of drink and drugs has not.

"We'll continue to respond to calls from the public and through intelligence and data proactively target known offenders and risk takers."
