PHOTOGRAPHERS across Nailsea are urged to show off their skills in the town council's photography competition.

The competition, which aims to promote Nailsea and local photographers across the town, runs until January 31, 2024.

The 'Images of Nailsea' photos captured will be published on the Nailsea Town Council website.

There will be prizes for the best photos.

Residents of all ages are urged to get involved. Please note that those aged under 16 should ask their parents to make the entry on their behalf.

A spokesperson from Nailsea Town Council said: "Nailsea Town Council are very pleased to launch a photography competition in January 2024.  The aim of this is to obtain images of Nailsea to promote and support Nailsea town on the Nailsea Town Council Website and to showcase the talented photographers of Nailsea.  

"The competition inspiration and starting point is for Nailsea people to share their unique perspective of ‘Images of Nailsea’. The images will not only be a testament to the Town but also a source of inspiration for a future.

"We ask the entrants to use their creativity and imagination to find their own examples of how best to convey the theme of ‘Images of Nailsea’ through the medium of photography and to showcase the town.

"The competition is open to all amateur photographers of any age group who reside in or attend school or college in Nailsea, Somerset. 

"Entrants may submit one photograph which illustrates the theme (in black & white or  colour). Photographs submitted should depict and/or illustrate an area of Nailsea or people of Nailsea and the theme ‘images of Nailsea’ and must be taken by the entrant since January 2023."

To enter, send your photo as an email with attachments to media@nailseatowncouncil.gov.uk.  The photographs must be submitted in the format of a digital jpeg at a minimum of 2MB. 

Each entry must be accompanied by a caption of no more than 100 words explaining why the photograph illustrates the theme of ‘Images of Nailsea’. Entrants should also include first name, last name, email address.

Councillor Anita Smith said: “We know that there are many talented photographers, of all ages in Nailsea, and we would love to see as many as possible of your ‘Images of Nailsea’.  The aim is that we can use our residents’ photographic images to showcase the town on our website."
