A FESTIVE-themed fancy dress charity fun run is set to take place this December.

On Sunday, December 3, residents will take part in the Santas on the Run event at Charlton Farm in Wraxall.

All proceeds will be donated to the Children's Hospice South West (CHSW), which also has a branch at the North Somerset location.

Participants can walk, jog or run the 2km scenic route, and can dress up in any festive outfit they wish. There will be Christmas-themed surprises along the way.

Those that take part can also receive 50 per cent off admission at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm for December 2 and 3. If runners visit Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm on the Sunday, they will also receive a free hot drink.

Tickets can be purchased on the CHSW website.

Hollie Thorogood, events fundraiser for CHSW, said: “Get the date in your diary now! We are so excited that this year we will be at our beautiful Charlton Farm, which really does make this such a special event.

“Taking part in Santas on the Run is the perfect way to mark the start of festive celebrations.

"It really gets people in the Christmas spirit while supporting their local children’s hospice; Charlton Farm, which will be continuing to offer care to families 24/7 throughout the festive season.”

Staff provide free support to children with life limiting illnesses and their families, including respite, palliative care, end of life care and bereavement support.

The hospice also offers resilience stays and support in families' own homes since the pandemic.

The charity's website reads: "We offer a home from home where children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families can take a short break away from home to re-charge their batteries in a homely, warm and welcoming environment.

"Providing a much-needed break from the ongoing strains of caring for their children at home, juggling professional and medical appointments as well as maintaining family life and employment."

There will be fancy dress competitions on the day, so people are encouraged to get creative.

Until Thursday, November 2, early bird tickets will be on sale. These are priced at £9.60 per adult and £4.80 per child, whilst children aged under three go free.
