A REPEAT speeder from North Somerset has been banned from driving after his latest two offences.

Philip Michael Stolworthy, 54, of Clevedon Road, Wraxall, pleaded guilty to both counts when he appeared at North Somerset Magistrates' Court.

He admitted breaking a temporary 50mph limit by 8mph while driving a Maserati Ghibli on the M20 London-bound in Kent on April 4 last year.

Stolworthy was not permitted to receive a fixed penalty as he already had nine points on his licence.

Instead, the court fined him £288 and ordered him to pay £95 costs, while he was handed a six-month ban after receiving a further three points "due to repeat offending".

Stolworthy was also caught speeding in the Maserati on the M4 in South Gloucestershire on August 29 last year, when he was clocked at 83mph on the 70mph road.

That landed him with a £192 fine, a victim surcharge of £48 and costs of £95 to accompany a six-month driving disqualification.

The two cases resulted in an overall court bill of £718.
