A SURVEY of residents will help to shape the future of housebuilding in two North Somerset towns this month.

People living in Nailsea and Clevedon will get the chance to share views on the future need for housing in a council survey.

The information collected will then go on to inform North Somerset Council on the need and want of housing types.

The survey will close at the end of this month and must be completed online, but residents can request that it is conducted via the telephone.

Deputy leader of the council and executive member for housing, Cllr Mike Bell, said: "You might have concerns about the affordability of housing, or you may live in a home that’s too large or small for your needs.

"Or it could be that you have a family member who wants to move out and start living by themselves but hasn’t yet been able to do so.

"You may also be living outside the two towns and commuting in while wanting to move closer to work, or equally you might be happy in your current home.

"Whatever your circumstances, if you have an interest in housing in Clevedon and Nailsea the council would really like to hear from you."

North Somerset Council says all information collected will then support the formation of future housing policy as the Local Plan is developed.

Clevedon ward councillor Richard Westwood, said: "The future of housing is always an important issue to any community.

"I would encourage local residents to have their say by responding to this survey so that the views of people in Clevedon are taken into account."

The survey is available for Clevedon residents at http://clevedonsurvey2022.co.uk or http://nailseasurvey2022.co.uk for those living in Nailsea.

Nailsea ward councillor Sandra Hearne, added: "We would be very grateful to the residents of Nailsea to share their views.

"The more people who contribute, the more accurate the information will be for the council to act upon."

Respondents will have received a unique ID number to complete the survey. If this is unavailable, there will be an option to enter your postcode instead.

It will take around ten minutes to complete. If residents do not have access to the internet, the council advises to phone 0800 612 9133 for free where a telephone arrangement can be made.

The survey will close on Friday, September 30.
