College student to play to crowds

A FORMER Weston College student will entertain crowds at Thekla in Bristol on Wednesday.

Nick Packer is now guitarist with indie band Sparrow and the Workshop, which will play at The Grove venue as part of its UK tour supporting Idlewild.

Sparrow and the Workshop has been described by the Sunday Times as one of the best bands to emerge in Britain this year.

Nick took an art foundation course at Weston College before studying fine art at Goldsmiths College in London.

After graduating he worked at the Tate Gallery in London for several years, before moving to Glasgow and joining Sparrow and the Workshop.

Sparrow and the Workshop will release its debut album Crystals Fall on April 12, through Distiller Records.
