Children team up with Lions

08 March 2010

YOUNGSTERS at a Portishead school teamed up with volunteers from Portishead Lions Club to help the environment.

Children at High Down Infant School made bird houses with the help of the volunteers as part of their ongoing project about the outside environment.

The pupils, who have been looking at school wildlife including birds, were thrilled when members of the Lions Club offered to help them make the boxes.

They then decorated them and plan to sell them to raise money for the continuing development of the outside environment at school.

Teaching assistant Sue Betts said: "As a school we would like to thank the volunteers, it was such a lovely afternoon for all concerned.
