Hospital admissions on the rise
10 March 2010
THE number of people admitted to Weston General Hospital is rising slightly year on year, new figures have revealed.
There were 37,977 admissions to the Uphill facility from April 2008 to March 2009, compared to 36,302 in the previous year.
During the period patients, who were mostly female and aged between 15 and 59, occupied beds for a total 124,169 days, averaging six days each.
Out of the admissions 46 per cent were emergencies while 28 per cent came from a waiting list.
The figures come from an annual NHS report on patient data, published today (Wed).
