Former Pogues guitarist in Weston

10 March 2010

A FORMER Pogues guitarist will play a gig in Weston this weekend.

Jamie Clarke toured with the famous Irish band and even ended up playing on its Pogue Mahone album.

The guitarist and singer will appear at The Raglan Arms, in Upper Church Road, on Saturday.

In 1997 Jamie formed Perfect, the band he has been playing with in different line-ups since the Pogues days.

Perfect is currently playing with Bjoern Again on drums and Fran-Jean 'Godzilla' Schmidt on the French bass, the banjo being played by Pierre Lavendel.

The band has successfully played more than 1,400 concerts all over the world.

Its action-packed live show is a perfect mixture of its own material, folkpunk, folk rock and Irish traditional tunes played at break neck speeds, as well as some Pogues classics.
