PORTISHEAD people have given the thumbs-up to an improved bus service around the town.
Following requests made by members of the public, the 692 service between Nailsea and Portishead has been revised to serve the new Harbourside development.
A second bus will also extend its route. The 660 service will now serve the new Marina Healthcare Centre.
North Somerset Council has traditionally subsidised a number of bus services in the district that are not viable on a purely commercial basis.
These are funded by the council together with the rural bus subsidy grant, or through section 106 agreements with developers.
Portishead residents had complained that the new centre was difficult to access using public transport and are pleased their cries for change have been listened to.
Councillor Reyna Knight, whose ward includes the new health centre, said: "I do feel that the people of Portishead are getting their voice heard and things are getting done in respect of transport.
"We still have a long way to go but we seem to be getting a sympathetic ear at North Somerset Council.
