Desperate plea for host families

FRIENDLY families are desperately needed to take part in a long-standing trip for German youngsters.

With little more than a week left until 35 teens are due to arrive from Hildesheim, 10 are yet to be placed in a host household.

It is the first time in the scheme's history such a shortage has happened and organiser Sue Harding is launching a last-ditch appeal for help.

She said: "We are looking for anybody to give us a hand because at this stage we are desperate.

"It has never got to this stage before and we really do not know what we will do if more families do not come forward."

The youngsters are aged 13-15 and families would receive £100 per youngster they house.

The trip runs from March 19 to April 1 and the children would be away from Weston for the middle weekend on a field trip.
